Introductions

Formerly known as The Encanto Court, this historic motel holds a significant place in the history of Grants, a small town located in Cibola County, New Mexico. The Encanto Court was once a popular stop for travelers passing through the Southwest, providing a comfortable and convenient resting place along the iconic Route 66.

Built in the mid-20th century, The Encanto Court was a prime example of the motel architecture that defined the heyday of roadside accommodations. Its distinct Southwestern adobe-style facade, complete with colorful murals and intricate detailing, made it a standout landmark along the highway. The motel's convenient location, just a short drive from the popular Petrified Forest National Park, made it a favored overnight stop for tourists exploring the natural wonders of the region.

Over the years, The Encanto Court saw its fair share of changes and challenges. As the popularity of Route 66 began to wane and the advent of interstate highways changed the way people traveled, the motel's business declined. Eventually, The Encanto Court closed its doors, leaving behind a legacy of nostalgia and memories for those who had passed through its doors.

Today, the former site of The Encanto Court stands as a reminder of a bygone era, a time when the open road beckoned and roadside motels were a staple of the American travel experience. While the physical structure may have deteriorated over time, the spirit of The Encanto Court lives on in the hearts of those who once stayed there and in the memories of a time when the journey was just as important as the destination.
